About Jarid Tareen, MD

Hello,
I’m Dr. Jarid Tareen

ORTHOPAEDIC SPINE SURGEON

Dr. Tareen was born and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland. His interest in medicine began in high school when he shadowed an orthopaedic surgeon during his AP Biology class. He attended University of Pittsburgh for his undergraduate training, obtaining a B.S. in Molecular Biology before coming back to Maryland for his medical training at University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Tareen stayed in Baltimore and completed his Orthopaedic Surgical training at University of Maryland Medical Center and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. He then elected for an additional year of training in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery at the New York University/Hospital for Joint Disease in New York, New York. Dr. Tareen has extensive training in minimally invasive spinal fusion, motion preserving surgery with cervical disc replacement, and robotic spine surgery. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, live music, watching sports (Washington Football Team, Capitals), and drinking craft beer.

Excellent physician. He really takes the time to listen to you and help treat your pain.
I had surgery with Dr. Tareen last month. My experience was excellent. He is very caring and is with you every step of the way after your operation. The pain I had before surgery is gone!
Great experience. Took a lot of time explaining options. Didn’t feel rushed and felt he really cared about my situation.
Amazing. A++. I had a cervical disc replacement with Dr. Tareen. He explained the pros and cons of the operation compared to a fusion. I couldn’t be happier!
Excellent! Caring and personable!
Dr. Tareen is an excellent physician. He is knowledgeable but also very personable. He goes over your imaging with you and explains the problem and what treatment options are available. I could not have asked for a better experience!
